Malo lelei, my name is Angelo and this is my first year in LS2 as a year 7. I am really excited to face the challenges of this year with my friends, and classmates. I am looking forward to Tech, sport competitions, Art, school trips and all the activities coming up this year. I love doing physical hobbies like cycling, hiking, camping, running and sports. I am really good at sports like rippa rugby, soccer and touch.

My goal for this year is to try my best to become a good leader and role model.

SLJ – Step it up “Predator free 2050”

For this activity, I created a pick-a-path quiz about invasive predators in Aotearoa and their prey. I first looked at an example so I could understand what the task was asking me to do. After that, I copied the template and added three different predator and prey pairs, including some animals that are native to New Zealand. One of the questions was designed to trick the audience by asking, “Who is the prey?” After each slide, I included facts about the predator and the prey to help explain the answers. I really enjoyed this task because it was fun to make and helped me learn more about animals I had not researched much before, especially the pekapeka and the possum.

For this activity, I needed to fill out a template about a predator of my choice, which was a rat (Rattus norvegicus). I researched rats and answered questions that made me think deeply and search for a lot of information. Next, I needed to make my own predator card based on the predator I chose. On the card, I included the rat’s scientific name, weight, speed, threat rate, and three interesting facts about rats.

I enjoyed this task very much, especially the part where I got to design my own predator card, because I was able to design the card however I wanted it to look.

SLJ – Step it up “Project Tiger”

For this task, we had to create an animation showing a tiger moving through its natural habitat. I chose to animate the South China tiger, so I created a scene where it moves through the forests and mountains of southern China, which is where these tigers once lived. Sadly, South China tigers are now extinct in the wild, with the last confirmed sightings happening many years ago.

Today, the remaining South China tigers live in zoos and breeding centres because they are extremely rare. Creating this animation helped me learn more about the South China tiger’s habitat and why it is important to protect endangered animals. This task also helped me improve my animation and creativity skills while designing the environment and movement of the tiger.

SLJ – kickstart “Project Tigers”

For this SLJ activity, I had to create a fact file about a tiger that I chose. I used my smart searching skills to research where the tiger lives, what it eats, and many other interesting facts. I carefully read through different articles and websites to make sure my information was accurate and useful. I really enjoyed learning new things about my tiger while researching.

I created my fact file using Google Drawings and used shapes, text boxes, and colours to make it look more creative and fun. This helped organise my information clearly and made my fact file easy to read. I am proud of the effort I put into this activity and the final result. I hope you enjoy looking at my creative fact file!

SLJ – Step It up “animal tricksters”

half Charmelon and half octopus
For this SLJ activity, I had to create my own animal trickster. This activity was very creative and really helped cure my boredom. I decided to use AI to make a combination of a chameleon and an octopus, and it was really cool to see how AI could bring my idea to life.

I had to try many times before I got the result I wanted, but I am very happy with how it turned out. It was fun experimenting and learning through trial and error.

I hope you enjoy my AI animal combination!

SLJ – kickstart ” animal tricksters “

For this SLJ Actvity I had to be a smart, intelligent scientist who knows a lot about animal tricksters! This actvity was about which creature is a animal trickster and which one is not. This was my first time learning about animal tricksters and was really “tricky” to get the right answer. I had to watch the video over and over again to finally realize which one is not a animal trickster if you want to know too then go to slide 2 where I explain which one I think is not a animal trickster!

I hope you enjoy this slideshow!

SLJ Kickstart “octopus oddities”

In this SLJ activity, I had to create an interesting poster to teach others about octopuses. This activity refreshed my brain and filled it with lots of new knowledge about octopuses and how amazing they are. By using my research and searching skills, I was able to find many fun and interesting facts to include in my poster.

I had a lot of fun creating this poster, especially when designing the background and choosing how everything would be laid out. I enjoyed being creative and learning at the same time.

I hope you enjoy reading and learning from the wonderful poster I have created!

SLJ – Kickstart ” Octopus Oddities “

For this SLJ activity I had to color in a really cool and simple image of a octopus. I first had to learn about octopuses and what they can do.

After I learnt about octopuses, I hopped on this really cool website that lets you color in your octopus in any color you want!

It took a while for me to color in everything but it was totally satisfingy to color in.

(If you want to try out coloring a octopus here is the link https – click)

here are my 3 facts :

they have three harts to support their breathing

they can comoflage to confuse attackers or prey

they have blue blood because of hemocyanin
